Tomáš Pojar

Tomáš Pojar serves as Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the State of Israel since February 2010. Prior to his appointment Amb. Pojar served at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the First Deputy Minister for Security Affairs, EU Affairs and Bilateral Relations with European States since 2006 and as the Deputy Minister for Bilateral Relations since 2005. Between the years 1997 and 2005 Amb. Pojar worked as the Executive Director of the People in Need – Czech TV Foundation.

Amb. Pojar holds M.A. Degree in Government with a specialization in Counter – Terrorism and Homeland Security at the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy at the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzlyia in Israel and B.A. Degree in Political Science from the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. In the years 2003 and 2004 he was Awarded Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellowship at the National Endowment for Democracy in Washington D.C.

Amb. Pojar is a member of the Jagello 2000 – Czech Euro-Atlantic Council and of controlling board of the František Langer Foundation Fund as well as recipient of the Cross of Merit of the Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic (3rd Class), of the Commemorative Badge of General Rudolf Medek, of the World Economic Forum - Young Global Leader 2010 Award, and of the Ambassador of the Nation – Recognition by President of the Republic of Albania.

Amb. Pojar was born in Prague in 1973, is married and has three children.
