Czech Film Week 2012 is coming up soon!
We are delighted that we can invite you to the third edition of the Czech Film Week. After success of the last 2 years we were again able to enrich the list of films that we are going to present. This year it will be 5 feature films and 3 documentary films. The Czech Film Week will be open by the film Long Live the Family that received 4 Czech Critic’s Awards in 2011 including the Best Picture. The film is directed by Robert Sedlacek and produced by Radim Prochazka, who will be our guest this year and will also present his documentary film Catenaccio a la Drnovice.
Another film will be Flower Buds that received 4 awards of the Czech Lions 2011 including the Best Picture and Best Director. Flower Buds is in this year’s East of the West Competition at the IFF Karlovy Vary.
One of the world’s leading film directors of Czechoslovak origin, Milos Forman, celebrated his 80th birthday this year. At the occasion of this anniversary we bring a 2 hour documentary film, which shows the richness of his life and career and presents many Holywood stars that he has been working with along the years.
We are very happy to introduce to the Israeli public the best of the actual Czech film production of the last years including the film Rules of Lies by Robert Sedlacek that received the Czech Lion Award for Best Screenplay in 2006.
The documentary Generation Singles by a young director Jana Poctova is a probe into human relations in present-day Czech Republic, a contemplation of diverse forms of hope and disillusion. The Czech Film Week 2012 has been prepared in the cooperation and great help of the Israel Cinematheques.
