Sophie´s Choice / The Czech Way - Lecture by Judita Matyasova
17.04.2012 / 10:38
Stories of Jewish teenagers from Czechoslovakia in Denmark and Sweden 1939 - 1945.
Judita Matyasova, a Czech journalist and researcher at the Military History Institute of Prague, discovered an unknown chapter of Czech-Danish-Swedish history. In January 2011 she found out about Zuzana Ledererova's story who was sent during WWII along with other 150 Jewish children from Czechoslovakia to Denmark to attend Zionist courses. In 1941 several of these children went from Denmark to Israel, but most of them escaped in 1943 to Sweden and have not been in contact with each other for more than 70 years. This story of Czech kids was never detailed documented nor published, because of that Matyášová is searching for them all around the world and is going to present her results.
