Dajti Alpino Turistik is a tourist club dedicated to alpine tourism; its members participated in expeditions abroad to Mount Everest or Aconcagua. The club’s  annual meeting evaluated last year’s activities and discussed future plans. This year, in the framework of Official Development Assistance of the Czech Republic, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tirana is financially supporting a small local project for renovation and marking of two tourist trails in the Dajti National Park nearby Tirana implemented by Dajti Alpino Turistik.

At the meeting, the Czech Ambassador praised the successes of the association and stressed the importance of Albania’s big potential for development of mountain tourism. According to her, it is crucial to develop and maintain the needed infrastructure, develop accommodation capacities, and also for the Albanian tourist themselves to share of the responsibilities for mountain tourism development. As an example, she introduced the successes of more than a hundred year history of tourism in the Czech Republic including existence of a dense network of tourist trails which is being developed and maintained on voluntary basis by Czech tourists from the Club of Czech Tourists. She expressed hope that Albania will be connected to other countries of the region and whole Europe in the future with its own well developed tourist trail network.

While in Puka, the Czech Ambassador met also with Mayor Beqir Arifaj and together they visited a local fair with hand-made and food articles produced by local women and reflecting regional traditions.
