Violin virtuoso Pavel Šporcl appointed Goodwill Ambassador

World famous violin virtuoso Pavel Šporcl has been appointed on 10 September 2013 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Kohout as a Goodwill Ambassador for the Year of Exchange 2014 for Visegrad Group countries (V4) plus Japan.
Pavel Šporcl has been appointed for the Year of Exchange on the initiative of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Japan. He is well known in Japan, being enthusiastically received by audiences and music critics. Pavel Šporcl has recently performed with Tokyo Metropolitan Symphonic Orchestra at the famous Suntory Hall. He also produced his CD for a major international label in Japan, Universal Music Japan and EMI Japan.
The prime ministers of the V4 countries and Japan agreed to designate 2014 as the year of exchange for the V4 plus Japan and appoint goodwill ambassadors to further promote exchanges at the V4 summit in Warsaw on 16 June 2013.
Goodwill Ambassador is a title of honor which entitles the bearer to promote good name of his country or an international organization and to grant patronage to a range of activities in the fields of culture, tourism, commerce or charity.
