Certified Translation of Foreign Documents

Purpose of the Certified Translation:

The official language in the Czech Republic is Czech. Thus, foreign documents which need to be used in the Czech Republic must be accompanied by the corresponding translation into Czech and subsequent authentication of the translation by the Consulate General, unless provided by an interpreter registered in the Czech Republic.

Requirements:

To authenticate a translation, the applicant must:

-  make an appointment via email

- submit the original document

- submit the translation (we suggest all translations are printed)

- present an identification (passport, "občanský průkaz", driver´s  license)

- pay the application fee (see below)

NOTE: Applicants can send their documents by post or bring them to the Consulate General in person. In case of postal applications, applicants must enclose a pre-paid and self-addressed registered mail or courier envelope to be returned along with the Consulate Authentication. Also, please send your documents with a short covering letter and appropriate fees.

Special information:

Please note that the Consulate will not translate documents for applicants. No translation is required for documents written in Slovak.

Processing time:

In case of personal applications, the public counter offers a same day service. Processing time for postal applications is normally 3 working days from the date we receive them. Delays may occur where there is a query with a signature or document and during particularly busy days, which are unfortunately unpredictable.
