Closing ceremony of the development project "Hargia"

On December 5, 2012 held ceremonial completion of the Czech development project "Contamination survey and design of remediation in the industrial area of Hargia in Ulaanbaatar" focusing on eliminating environmental damage according to European standards and norms.
Development project funded by the Czech government was implemented in the years of 2010-2012 by Dekonta Company, Inc. (www.dekonta.cz) with a total budget of more than $ 1 million.
The solemn handover of the project in the area of Pre-treatment plant (formerly Hargia) was attended from the Czech side H.E. I. Grollová, ambassador, K. Petrželka, director of Dekonta, M. Pastvinský, director of the Czech Development Agency and other Czech representatives and experts. As the recipients were Badral, general manager of Municipality of Ulaanbaatar, Baatartsogt, director of Waste Management Department of Municipality, Jargalsaikhan, secretary of the National Council for Chemicals, Khulan, deputy director of Pre-treatment Plant and other specialists.
The actual development project was focused on to process the risk analysis of waste produced by tannery in the industrial area Hargia, drawing a draft of technical implementation of rehabilitation process and at the last contaminated sludge and soil will be securely stored at Morin Davaa dump which is located not far from the metropolis.
The project envisioned Mongolia for the pilot performance of all needed processes to solve environmental problems with the healthiest way to the environment. Contaminated sludge (i.a. carcinogenic hexavalent chromium) had been stored in a landfill site for decades, thus this was directly threatening not only the health of the industrial area’s workers but also residents of surrounding apartments.
