Drinking Water Supply of Rural Areas of Zalugiin Gol and Ulaan Tolgoi in the Wider Area of Erdenet City

Implementation of the project will ensure access to drinking water for people in rural areas around the city Erdenet. In addition it will provide water for thousands of animals and for irrigation of agricultural land. In this way the project will improve access of the population (and animals) to drinking water and strengthen their social and economic situation, which has a positive effect on the balance of the whole province. An indirect development benefit of the project is also limiting migration of the rural poor to the city where they struggle at the social bottom. Overall, the project will contribute to economic growth in the region and provide security of livelihood of the poorest people. By the implementation of the project will be also supported conditions for animal production in the area and its spread to a wider area (improving pasture management and optimization of traditional farming in the region). By this dispersion will be limited the contribution of people to the advancing process of desertification of the territory (the conservation of natural communities and ecosystems, maintaining the population in the region).
