Ceremonial opening of an agropark built within a development project

On May 14, 2012 a ceremonial opening and start of activities took place at a new agropark built within the scope of a Czech development project in Sainshand (Dornogobi aimag).

On May 14, 2012 a ceremonial opening and start of activities took place at a new agropark built within the scope of a Czech development project “Support for improving the quality of crop production in Dornogobi“ in Sainshand. In addition, agricultural equipment was formally handed over to representatives of local so-called Farmer Field Schools. Representative of the Embassy of the Czech Republic to Mongolia P. Žáková, the aimag governor P. Gankhuyag, Czech project implementer P. Muroň, representative of Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry N. Oyunsuvda, Vice president of National Association of Mongolian Agricultural Co-operatives D. Chuluunbat and others (incl. media) participated at this occasion.

Project has been implemented by the Czech organization People in Need with the overall budget 540 thousand USD in the years 2011-2012. The established agropark shall serve as a counseling center and it consists of office facility, warehouse, technical facilities and equipment (i.a. a tractor), growing area, greenhouses and water source. Above all, a part of the project is also the equipping of six existing agricultural areas (so-called Farmer Field Schools).

The Czech Republic has already implemented two big development projects focused on plant production in Dornogobi aimag (Mendel University in Brno 2006-09, Adra Czech Republic 2007-09) and one small scale (Czech University of Life Sciences, 2010) in total value of approximately 1 mil. USD.
