Cultural presentation of the Czechia in Mongolia during the presidency in EU

Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ulaanbaatar during Czech Presidency of the European Union prepared several cultural events mostly focusing on presenting the public the Czech Republic which as a president country of the EU in the first half of 2009 played an important role in this international organization.

In 2009 the public of Mongolia had a chance to let know the history of the brewery in the Czech Republic as guest of the exhibition named “Roll out the barrows” In cooperation with the Khaan bank exhibition hall the works of the Czech painter Karel Demel were presented.  One month later, in March, the Mongolian public could view the most successful Czech fairly tale movies “The Nuts for Cinderella”, “I enjoy life with you”. The Mongolian subtitles were added to the movies. The classical music was presented by the artists of Wihan Quartet, this event was mostly enjoyed by the members of the diplomatic community and the government officials. Also two concerts of popular music in May performed by Čechomor group were accompanied by the official logo of the EU Presidency. The joint performance with the Mongolian group Altan Urag was highly appreciated by the lovers of the popular music; there were more then 2500 fans present at the concert. The last event of the Czech EU Presidency was the exhibition “Stone memory of the Czech and European landscape” and “Manuscripts of the Czech libraries”, “Europe of the values and ideas”.

The all above mentioned events in good way accompanied the work program of the Czech EU Presidency and together with the work of the Embassy during this demanding term created a very positive picture of the Czech Republic.
