The Czech language has been teaching in Mongolian State University for 20 years!

On 27 October, 2012 Department of Slavic of Mongolian State University organized the celebration of 20 years since its founding.
Czech language class exists at the department since its inception and has about 85 graduates from 1992. Nine students of the Junior year are studying Czech at this time. New students will be accepted after a year and also curriculum and internships will be more connected with technical fields such as translation in order to expand (capacity of the students is 15 for a class). Today, Polish and Russian (Slovak and Bulgarian are no longer taught) still remains on Slavic studies.
Ambassador Ivana Grollová in her speech pointed out that besides learning language helps students also know the mentality of the nation. Graduates are not only welcomed to become the future government officials but also assistants of the Czech companies working in Mongolia or with Mongolia.
Commemorative publications and speeches remind technical assistance of the Embassy in Ulaanbaatar in the late of 90’s and collaboration with diplomats of the Embassy. It will certainly continue in the form of discussions, film screenings, interpreting practice, publications of the translated books etc. Beyond Ambassador I. Grollová, meeting was also attended by Tomáš Vacek and Miroslava Bayerová from the Czech Embassy.
