Beer Festival in honor of the Czechoslovak Legions

(This article expired 01.11.2020.)

On the occasion of national holiday, Embassy of the Czech Republic on 30 October has organized a Czech night in the premise at which former Czechoslovak embassy used to domicile. Mongolian and foreign guests, in a very friendly atmosphere, enjoyed Czech Budweiser beer and typical Czech cuisine and where guests watched a documentary film "Accidental Army" about Czechoslovak Legions in two languages, with great interests.

During this event, Czechs and Slovaks currently residing in Mongolia welcomed nearly two hundred guests to ‘their’ feast, among which parliamentarians, government members, representatives of big companies, Czech alumni, as well as, representatives of international organizations and other diplomatic missions were present.  Who would have thought a quarter century ago that the embassy premise in the former Czechoslovakia to become a venue for official event to talk about what efforts had to develop T.G. Masaryk and "his" legionnaires to the Allies to won the recognition of an independent state of Czechs and Slovaks!? This evening some of our guests were dressed with 1910-1920’s style attire with an inspiration written in the invitation for this purpose. The documentary film "Accidental Army" was screened first in English and second time in the Czech so that almost all people watched the film delightfully. It was a big surprise to find out just how interesting twists and turns were, and engrossing happened how close the Mongolian territory actually, but almost unknown history of Czech legions straight before a hundred years ago!
