(This article expired 01.08.2020.)

Following last year's visit of Vice-Chairperson of the Senate Mrs. Alena Gajdůšková, Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ulaanbaatar and Mongolian Embassy in Prague forwarded the consignment from international competition in Zlín to pupils of the Secondary School No. 116 in Ulaanbaatar.

A professional jury praised artworks of two Mongolian participants among winners - 19-year-old U. Khongor (drawing) and 15-year-old B. Sumiyabazar (ceramics). On the 6th of August 2014, both winners together with their teacher were received at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ulaanbaatar, in order to get their diploma and small gifts. During which, they talked freely with the diplomats about what inspired them to make such winning art pieces, how good school’s pottery workshop became after maintenance, that they are going to international school once a week to improve their English within scope of the Access project funded/supported by US Embassy in Mongolia, admittance of the U. Khongor to the university and his dream for representing Mongolia in the judo tournament. U. Khongor confided that he also remembers the beautiful countryside, horses and lakes, from the time when he was partially sighted until second grade. "For a long time I did not draw anything," he said, "and when I heard that we can submit our artworks to contest called 'My travel' it was right before deadline. And suddenly I started to remember back the hills, the yurt with smoke coming out of its chimney and lake with swans. I'm glad that my drawing was praised. It gave me encourage to continue drawing".

An art exhibition of works of these children in Zlín became a part of the dedication to the 17th International Film Festival, so the typical Mongolian countryside from his picture was seen by many Czechs, as well as, foreign visitors. Among the gifts bestowed their participation in the competition, there was a reminder of Czech-Mongolian cooperation in Return of Przewalski horses to their original homeland in the Mongolian – a shirt ZOO Prague informing about this project Return of Wild Horses in 2014.
