Year of Czech music 2014

The year 2014 is a year when the Czech Republic celebrates anniversaries of more than 60 prominent Czech composers, performers and music organizations. Since ending in numeral 4, year 2014 is traditionally recognized as a "year of music".

Year of Czech music 2014 is an important celebration of musical anniversaries, presentation and promotion of Czech music both at home and abroad. It is not dedicated uniquely to classic music, it also includes other music genres and presents them through festivals, concerts, project for children and youth both at home and abroad.

The artistic patrons of the event are mezzo soprano Magdalena Kožená and conductor Sir Simon Rattle. Honorary President is Jiří Bělohlávek, CBE - chief conductor of the Czech Philharmonic and political patron is Miloš Zeman, the president of the Czech republic.
