President of the European Commission mentioned several times the democratic change started in the former Czechoslovakia on November 17, 1989 which also inspired the democratic movement in Mongolia

The postponed visit of the Mr. José Manuel Barroso, the President of the European Commission, was finally held on 17 November 2013 in Mongolia.
It was the second high level visit from European Union to Mongolia for this year (previously, Ms. Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy signed on the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, the PCA, between EU – Mongolia in last April). In coming year, it will happen the 25th Anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Mongolia and EU, and both side agreed to intensify exchange visits at level of politicians, as well as businessmen, students and scientists in order to foster exploitation of EU standards and good practices effectively in Mongolia during its rapid development. Furthermore, it can help Mongolia to ensure the sustainability, competitiveness and smooth development in terms of environment and energy efficiency.
President Barroso held private meeting with H.E. Mr. Ts. Elbegdorj, the President of Mongolia, in accompany Mr. N. Batbayar, Minister of Economic Development and Mr. Ch. Saikhanbileg, Head of the Cabinet Secretariat. Also he had separate meeting with Mr. L. Bold, Minister of Foreign Affairs and met with Mr. N. Altankhuyag, Prime Minister respectively.
The Czech Republic which led the Presidency of EU in this half year (in absence of Lithuania and EU Delegation) accompanied all following events. According to important milestone of 17th November happen during his visit, Mr. Barroso mentioned several times about the democracy movement in Czechoslovakia, its ideal leader Vaclav Havel and also Mongolian Zorig Sanjaasüren who began peaceful democratic movement shortly after visiting Prague on 10 December 1989 during his lunch with President Ts. Elbegdorj, honorary speech at National University of Mongolia and opening remark of the 4th EU Film Festival in Ulaanbaatar.
