Small local project handed over in the Dundgovi province

On October 01, 2012, a ceremonial handover of a small local project – water well for school in Gurvansaikhan took place in Dundgovi province.

 

The local small project has been realised with the financial support of the Czech development cooperation. Completely equipped and secured water well was handed over during the ceremony with the participation of the  Czech Ambassador to Mongolia, the Governor of the Province, delegation of the executive company (local Mongolian company), soum administrators, school administrators, and local press workers. The ceremony included also the children’s cultural performance.

The Ambassador I. Grollová and the Governor exchanged their views on further possibilities  of mutual cooperation within the framework of a market basis.

Within the framework of the project 80m deep well with 2 l/sec flow capacity was drilled. The well was arched over by so called “sandwich” house constructed from special materials and equipped with appropriate accessories – (pump, water reservoir, heating). Also there was  constructed a concrete based iron fence around the building.

Gurvansaikhan sum has 2200 inhabitants. In 1940 the school’s foundations were laid and in 1975 it expanded also as a secondary school. At present it has been attended by 250 pupils and over 30 children from herder families which live in it’s dormitory. The school has over 400 children capacity as well as the dormitory with the capacity around 80 children.
