The Czech Permanent Representative to the UN on genocide prevention

The Permament Representative of the Czech Republic to the UN, H.E. Mrs. Edita Hrda, delivered a comment during a successful event called "Genocide: A Preventable Crime" organized by the Permament Mission of Rwanda to the UN and the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect at the UN on January 15, 2014.

She reminded the audience of the activity of the Czech Republic as a non-permament member of the Security Council in 1994 when the tragic events in Rwanda took place. She expressed the need to pay attention to early warnings of mass atrocities and highlighted the role of education in the prevention which is a key pillar of the Responsibility to Protect.
