Státní muzeum Auschwitz- Birkenau hledá průvodce

The Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim urgently looks for candidates for Czech speaking guides.

The Examination-Qualifying Board appointed by the Museum Director decides at the beginning of September about guides’ recruitment on the basis of the visitor attendance statistics and demand for guides speaking particular languages.

From applicants for guide qualifications the Board selects candidates who meet relevant requirements.

The following requirements are considered: availability, certified language skills, preferable university education, in particular, graduates of language and literature studies, history or pedagogy.

Candidates are invited for an interview. After the interview chosen candidates are given examination questions and bibliography to prepare for the examination. A review preparatory course is organized if there is the considerable number of the candidates.

A guide examination is organized once a year in the first week of February. It is a theoretical oral and written exam. If a candidate passes these stages, s/he is entitled to take a practical exam. Only after passing the practical exam a candidate gets guide qualifications.

The examination can be taken  in Polish, English and German language.

Review preparatory courses are paid. Cost of a theoretical exam – 240 PLN and practical exam – 160 PLN. Cost of a review preparatory exam depends on the number of the candidates.

Applications to the Museum Director can be sent to the end of August via regular post: Panstwowe
