The World Bank Celebrates Czech and Slovak Culture and Cuisine

The Embassy of the Czech Republic participated in Heritage Days

During a one-day event on November 17, 2016, Czech Embassy Chef Zdeněk Pecka and Slovak Embassy Chef Juraj Bystriansky created a wide range of delicious Czech and Slovak delicacies, served in the World Bank’s main dining room. The incredibly elaborate menu featured traditional Czech specialties such as beef sirloin with cream sauce, cranberries and bread dumplings as well as savory potato pancakes with fried mushrooms. Salads included fresh cabbage with red onion and lentil with marinated vegetables. For dessert, the award-studded chefs prepared delicious pastries filled with plum marmalade and cream cheese and apple strudel with pears and rum infused raisins.

Moreover, the multitude of employees and visitors to the multi-story prestigious building, just blocks from the White House, enjoyed learning about travels to the Czech Republic from the country’s official travel agency, CzechTourism, and holiday shopping for handmade glass ornaments and exquisite glass pieces presented by Czech companies Glassor and Topix Crystal, respectively.
