Working visit of First Deputy Foreign Minister Jiri Schneider to Washington, DC

Czech First Deputy Foreign Minister Jiri Schneider visited Washington DC on November 8-10.

Mr. Schneider, who was appointed to the post in August 2010, undertook consultations with his US counterparts as part of a follow-up to Foreign Minister Schwarzenberg´s  recent visit in October and also as the first opportunity in his new capacity to discuss topical issues with our American colleagues and partners. Mr. Schneider met with representatives of the Obama administration and discussed bilateral Czech – US issues also in the context of the forthcoming EU-US and NATO Summits. He inquired about the US foreign policy after the mid-term elections in discussions with the members of Washington DC think-tank community. His visit prepared ground for the forthcoming visit of Czech Minister of Trade and Commerce Mr. Kocourek who is coming to Washington DC in December to officially launch the first round of the Czech-US Economic Dialogue. Mr. Schneider also discussed the preparations of the next round of Czech-US Strategic Dialogue which is planned for the beginning of next year.
