Working visit of the President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Klaus to the United States

On September 21 – 25, 2010, Czech President Vaclav Klaus undertook a working visit to the United States. He led the Czech delegation at the 65th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York City and also delivered remarks at two prestigious US universities in Washington, DC, and Ithaca, NY.

On the morning of Wednesday, September 22nd, the President met members of the Czech Caucus in the US Congress in Washington, DC; at 12:00 pm, he delivered remarks on “Europe, the Systemic Consequences of the Slowly Abating Crisis and the Need to Re-Formulate the Case for Capitalism“ at Johns Hopkins University. In the afternoon, the President met with representatives of the Heritage Foundation, an influential US think-tank.

On Thursday, September 23rd, and on Saturday, September 25th, the President partook in the opening of the General Debate of the 65th session of the UN General Assembly in New York City.

On Friday, September 24th, the President visited Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, a place where he studied in 1969. He delivered a speech titled: „A Return to Cornell: Personal Remarks of the President of the Czech Republic”.
