3rd Round of US-Czech Strategic Dialogue, Washington DC, May 3rd-4th

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Jiri Schneider visited Washington DC on May 3-4 to participate in the 3rd Round of Czech-American Strategic Dialogue.

He met with Assistant Secretary for Europe Phil Gordon and other State Department officials and dignitaries. They discussed the upcoming US visit of the Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg who will be accompanied by a trade mission. Opportunities for broader economic cooperation, as well as common projects and programs in democracy promotion (in Eastern Europe and North Africa) were also part of the consultations. Bussiness opportunties, as well as the Czech-US Bilateral Investment Treaty, were mentioned during the meeting with Assistant Secretary for Economic, Energy and Bussiness Affairs Jose Fernandez. Mr. Schneider also met with the think-tank community and delivered remarks at the CEPA „The US-Central Europe Strategy Forum“.

Mr. Schneider was accompanied by Ambassador Vaclav Bartuska and Ambassador Petr Mares who discussed the issues of energy security and Eastern Partnership during their separate programs.

Czech-US Strategic Dialogue was launched as a special consultative forum in 2008. Next round will take place in Prague in 2012.
