Books by a popular Nigerian author to be published in Czech soon

Czech book publisher HOST will soon publish two books by contemporary Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (born 1977): Feminism is for everyone and Dear Iljaewele or Feminist Manifesto in fifteen recommendations. Chimamanda has been one of the most renowned Nigerian authors for a long time, in the competition of many famous names - Wole Soyinka (Nobel Prize 1986), Chinua Achebe, Cyprian Ekwensi.

Both books offer an unconventional view of feminism. Chimamanda draws on her life experience both in Nigeria, where she grew up and still returns to, and her second home in the USA, where she lives and works. Feminism is not a struggle for women's rights, but rather for a better world for all.

Chimamanda Adichie is not unknown to the Czech readers. In 2017, HOST published her novel, Americanah. The Czech translation of her older novel Half of a Yellow Sun was released in 2008 (BB art, 2008).
