L-39NG aircraft - a possible future for Gabon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo

On 15-19 September 2021, delegations of Gabonese and Democratic Republic of the Congo air commanders visited the Czech Republic, in framework of a project to support economic diplomacy (PROPED), to participate in a regular conference of L-39 aircraft users and at the NATO Days exhibition in Ostrava to meet with the further potential of the Czech defense industry.

During the conference organized by the aircraft company Aero Vodochody in cooperation with the Czech Air Force, the commanders of the Air Force of Gabon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other countries were acquainted with the current state of development of the L-39NG aircraft and the possibilities of its acquisition for possible use in their air forces. In order to be acquainted with the practical operation of the aircraft, delegations also visited the Aviation Training Center in Pardubice within the program, where they saw a practical demonstration of the L-39NG flight and learned about training options for both pilots and technical personnel provided by the Center.

Subsequently, delegations visited Ostrava, where they participated in the annual exhibition of military and security technology called NATO Days, where, in addition to classic dynamic demonstrations of military and security technology, they had the opportunity to visit the stands of other major companies in the Czech defense industry like Era, Česká zbrojovka, Omnipol, Tatra and others. During their stay in Mošnov airport, the delegations also visited the Helicopter Training Point, where they gained information about the possibilities of training on helicopter simulators and had the opportunity to try a simulated helicopter flight. During the day at the exhibition center, there was a short meeting with the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic, Mr. Tomáš Kopečný, who officially invited them to visit.

The participation of the Gabonese (for the first time) and Congolese delegations in this type of event confirmed the importance of invitations for foreign delegations, who have the opportunity to see and exchange experiences with using Czech products in practice and broaden their horizons with other technical conveniences of the Czech industry.
