State Secretary of the MFA of the Czech Republic on an official visit to Cameroon

On 11 - 14 November 2019, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, H. E. Mr. Miloslav Stašek with a delegation paid the working visit to Cameroon. Its aim was to support intentions and projects of Czech companies and other entities and to strengthen the ties of both countries. The visit of the State Secretary and his delegation enabled the realization of PROPED (Project of Economic Diplomacy), in which the following Czech companies and entities were involved: VAE Controls, VAMED, Aero Vodochody, Excalibur Army, Nirex Investments and Prague ZOO. Representatives of the Czech-Cameroonian Chamber of Commerce participated in the preparation of the visit in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Abuja.

The program included meetings with Deputy Minister  of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Felix Mbaya, Minister of Defense, H.E. Mr. Joseph Beti Asomo, Minister of Agriculture, H.E. Mr. Gabriel Mbairobe, Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, H.E. Mr. Jules Doret Ndong, Minister of Secondary Education, H.E. Mrs. Pauline Nalova Lyonga Egbe, Minister of Energy, H.E. Mr. Gaston Elounda Essomba, Minister of Health, H.E. Mr. Manadou Malachius and Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr. Yaoubou Abdoulaye. The State Secretary of the MFA also visited the gorilla rescue station in Méfou, where he participated at the opening ceremony of the exhibition on the Prague Zoo project called "Wandering Bus", and he visited as well fish hatcheries of the Czech company Nirex Investments, in whose construction Czech Development Agency participated. Consultations with representatives of the local diplomatic corps (US ambassador, head of the European Union delegation) and international organizations (local representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross) were also added to the rich program of M. Stašek.

The visit was a successful concretization of Czech efforts to deepen contacts with one of the most promising countries in Central Africa. Both sides agreed on further concrete steps to develop economic and further cooperation and that the next important stage will be a visit to Cameroon delegation and businesses in the first half of next year (PROPED). The State Secretary Miloslav Stašek was accompanied by Czech Ambassador Marek Skolil, Director of the Office of State Secretary Arnošt Kareš,Deputy Director of Sub-Saharan Africa Department Pavel Procházka, Deputy Ministry of Finance Karel Tyll, Prague Zoo Director Miloslav Bobek, representatives of named companies and Economic Diplomat of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Abuja Beata Matusiková.
