Věra Yabéko Vitáčková receives Gratias Agit award

Mrs. Věra Yabéko Vitáčková received the prestigious award Gratias Agit from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech republic, H.E. Mr. Lubomír Zaorálek on June 23rd 2017. Gratias Agit is awarded annualy to Czech citizens in diaspora spreading the good reputation of the Czech republic abroad.
 

MUDr. Věra Yabéko

Věra Yabéko Vitáčková was born  in Kácov nad Sázavou on 19th April 1944. In 1962, she completed Secondary Nursing School in Kolín. In 1970, she was awarded the medical title MUDr. at the Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, Prague, and in 1974 she succesfully passed  her first paediatric certification. As a graduate boasting excellent results with a focus on tropical medicine, in 1970 she was sent on a six-month internship organised by the health ministry in Cameroon. Due to a shortage of physicians, the ministry there offered to let her continue in the field of tropical paediatrics and clinical research into drepanocytosis.

Since 1970, she has been the head physician at the Clinique Mère et Enfant in Douala, Cameroon.

Dr. Věra Yabéko Vitáčková has spent 46 years as a family doctor in Cameroon’s port city of Douala. Besides local patients, her clients include compatriots, emigrants, civil servants and business people. As a doctor, Dr. Yabéko is well respected in Cameroonian society. Many people greet her in the streets, and stop her to seek advice or help in health matters. Numerous assorted references show that she is highly esteemed by the people of Douala both as a person and an expert.

Dr. Yabéko i salso an honorary consul of the Czech Republic. She received an exequatur in 2003 and began to perform her dfuties. The Embassy considers her work to be very dedicated and accommodating. Dr. Yabéko is very helpful both to Czech citizens and the Abuja Embassy in dealing with the Cameroonian authorities and is always available to citizens in need.

In addition to her consular duties, she actively seeks to maintain the compatriot community, for which she holds regular gatherings fostering Czech culture and a sense of belonging.

Dr. Věra Yabéko spreads the reputation of Czechia abroad with her achievements in the field of medicine and with her personal dedication, and as a consul she is highly diligent in representing Czechia.
