Visa overview

Visa is issued into a passport (travel document) of a foreigner in a form of a visa sticker. Every applicant, including a child, is issued with an individual visa sticker. This applies even if the child does not have own passport and is registered in the parent's passport. Two visa stickers are issued into the passport in such case.

Types of Visas

  • Schengen (short-term) visas are issued for a stay in the Czech Republic / Schengen Area for up to 90 days (including "A" type - airport visas).
     
  • Long-term visas are issued for stays in the Czech Republic which last for more than 90 days. Special long-term visas are issued for the collection of a temporary/permanent residence permit in the Czech territory. Long-term visa entitles its holder to visit other Schengen countries for maximum of 90 days within every 180-day period.
     
  • All visa applications must be submitted in person at the Embassy upon prior appointment only.

Visa Fee

For details on visa fees consult the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. Kindly note that the visa application fees are (as of 1st August 2019) collected in EUR cash only at the Czech Embassy in Accra. Plse note! Visa fee is not refundable.

Reporting duty

All foreigners visiting the Czech Republic on a Schengen visa or within a visa-free regime who does not stay in a commercial accommodation facility (hotel, hostel, etc.) is obliged to report to the respective local immigration police authority within 3 working days after the arrival in the Czech Republic .

The reporting duty does not apply to persons younger 15 years of age, diplomatic staff of foreign missions and international organisations accredited in the Czech Republic, their family members who are registered with the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and to foreign nationals whose accommodation is organized by the Ministry of Interior.
