Gratias Agit to Ghanaian businessman

On Wednesday, October 19, Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský awarded the Gratias agit prize for promoting the good reputation of the Czech Republic abroad for 2022. In his speech, the Minister praised the fact that he was able to present the prize to the laureates in person after years of the coronavirus epidemic and to thank them for their efforts and commitment with which they spread the good name of the Czech Republic around the world.The Gratias agit is awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1997 to prominent figures and organizations who have been instrumental in building the image of the Czech Republic abroad and who selflessly deepen the interest in our country and help its visibility in the world. The laureates received a Czech glass sculpture and diploma. The prize is not linked to the financial reward.
The following personalities and organisations received the award for this year: 1. CZECH SCHOOL ROME, Italy
2. Tamara ADASAN, Moldova - Director of non-profit organisation
3. Leszek ENGELKING, Poland - poet, prosaic, translator, literary scientist and critic
4. Samir Yousef Salim HAZBUN, Palestine - Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Bethlehem, President of the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce and Industry
5. Karl Nii Ayikai LARYEA , Ghana businessman, supporter of Czech-Ghanaian economic and political relations
6. Antoine MARÈS, France - Professor Emeritus at the Sorbonne
7. Cecilia ROKUSEK, USA - Director of the Czech & Slovak Museum & Library in Cedar Rapids 8. Binh SLAVICKÁ, Vietnam - assistant professor at the Institute of Asian Studies of Charles University, lecturer in Vietnamese, translator
Mr Karl Laryea is the first Ghanaian and African personality, who has receved this award. For years he is essentially promoting business relations between Ghana and the CZech Republic. Congratulations.
