The Czechs participated in Beach Clean-up in Accra during EU Climate Week

On 28th September, 2019, the EU Delegation in Ghana organized a traditional Beach Clean-up (#EUBeachCleanup), as part of the EU Climate Diplomacy week titled #RegreeningGhana. This year, the Czechs have left their trace too. A dozen of students from the Mendelu University in Brno, who are in Ghana on a research exchange, joined hands and together with the Embassy of the Czech Republic participated in the cleaning of a Jamestown beach in Accra.

The involvement of the Czech students led by prof. Samuel Darkwah was not coincidental. Some of them are outlining a project on waste management of plastics. To this end, they are meeting with relevant partners from the public institutions and visiting schools to find out about their awareness in plastic disposal, basic hygiene and source of water for domestic use.

Also within the Climate week, the Czech Embassy in Ghana participated together with other EU member states on the Tree Planting that was organized by the EU Delegation in cooperation with the Mayor of Accra on 30th September: the tree for the Czech Republic was solemnly planted by Chargé d´affaires Lukáš Kindl.
