Deputy Minister Tlapa visited Côte d´Ivoire

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Martin Tlapa paid a visit to Côte d´Ivoire from 12 to 16 December 2020. He attended the inauguration of the re-elected President Alassane Ouattara, solemnly donated 20 hospital beds from the Linet company to the University Hospital in Treichville, and held talks with the Minister of Health, Minister of Transportation and Minister of Tourism.

On 14 December 2020, Deputy Minister attended on behalf of Czech President Miloš Zeman the inauguration of President of Côte d´Ivoire Alassane Ouattara, and delivered to him a congratulatory letter from the Czech President.

During their bilateral consultations, Deputy Minister Tlapa and his counterpart at the Ivorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr.  Daouda Diabaté, highlighted the deepening of economic cooperation between the two countries. Côte d´Ivoire appreciates the Czech contribution to the security and stability of Sahel. The Czech Republic currently commands the EU Training Mission (EUTM) Mali and prepares a deployment of its soldiers to the Task Force TAKUBA. Only a joint effort can return stability to this fragile region, and prevent destabilization of other countries of Western Africa.

During his visit, Deputy Minister Tlapa solemnly donated 20 hospital beds from the Czech company Linet to the University Hospital in Treichville, as a response to the call by the Ivorian government to provide support in the fight against Covid-19. During his talks with the Ivorian Minister of Health, Mr.  Eugene Aka Aouélé, Deputy Minister Tlapa discussed possible cooperation in the development of the Ivorian health sector.

Deputy Minister Tlapa also held talks with the Ivorian Minister of Transportation, Mr. Amadou Koné, on continuing the cooperation in the transportation sector. Since 2018, the Czech subsidiary of IVECO company in Vysoké Mýto has been delivering buses to the transportation company of Abidjan (SOTRA); the contract financed by a Czech bank involves a total of 800 buses.

Ivorian Minister of Tourism Siandou Fofana confirmed to Deputy Minister Tlapa the intent to open in Prague an office of the Ivorian agency for the promotion of tourism. Once the pandemic situations allows, Côte d´Ivoire plans to organize an Ivorian week in Prague to promote the country as a destination for tourists from the Central Europe.

At the end of his stay, Deputy Minister Tlapa handed over two boxes of crayons from the Czech company Koh-i-nor to the pupils of the catholic school Saint Gaspard Bertoni in Abobo.
