Czech movie launched the EU Film Festival in Accra

The EU Film Festival in Accra was launched on 9 February 2020 in the National Theater amphitheater by a Czech movie „Cirkus Rwanda“ that documents cooperation between a Rwandan circus group and the Czech ensemble Cirk La Putyka on a joint performance. The screening was organized in cooperation with the Czech Embassy in Ghana, which brought the producer of the movie, Mr. Marek Novak to the festival. Mr. Novak participated in the discussion that followed after the movie screening and attended related workshops in the next days.

On 11 February, the producer, Mr. Novak from XOVA Film led a masterclass at Goethe Institute attended by a small group of Ghanaian filmmakers and film students. Mr. Novak was also one of the speakers in a panel organized at the National Film and Television Institute, which was attended by a larger group of participants who are trying to establish themselves in the local film industry.

The movie “Cirkus Rwanda” was screened once more on 14 February on a football field in the Panama Park for the local community of Nima.

The EU Film Festival was Ghana’s first film festival designed to showcase the latest European feature films and act as a platform for cultural exchange, inspiration and partnership.
