Amassador Fuchsova presented her credentials to President of Liberia G. Weah

On January 24, 2019, Amassador of the Czech Republic in Accra Margita Fuchsova presented her credentials to the President of Liberia, H.E. George Weah. During the subsequent interview, she discussed the possibilities for deepening of mutual economic relations and expressed interest in cooperation in health care and education.

The ceremony was attended also by the Liberian Minister of Foreign Affairs, H. E. Gbezohngar Findley, by the State Minister for the President´s Office, hon. Nathaniel McGill, as well as other government officials.

In her speech Ambassador Fuchsova appreciated the successful and peaceful transition of power to the current administration of President Weah. She stated that the Czech Republic would like deepen mutual relations with Liberia, mainly in the economic field, and said that a business delegation will visit Liberia in March. The Ambassador also mentioned that there is a potential for cooperation in health care and education. President Weah appreciated the intention to deepen our economic cooperation as well as the planned business mission to Liberia. He also said that development of the health care and education sectors belong to the top priorities of his administration.

On an informal note, President Weah mentioned that he knows the Czech Republic well, since he played several times against Sparta Prague during his former career as football player (in 1995, Mr. Weah was awareded FIFA Golden Ball). As a special gift, the Czech Ambassador gave the President a ball signed by Tomas Rosicky, a famous Czech football player.
