Representatives of the Embassy handed over materials for visually impaired girls

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Addis Ababa supported a small scale local project to support 16 visually impaired girls in Addis Ababa. Thanks to the project, 16 laptops with special software, textbooks in Braille, audio books, Dictaphones, headphones, games and an automatic braille printer were handed over. The aim of the project is to enable girls to create their own materials and thus achieve better education.

On 22 October 2020, Deputy Ambassador Jaroslav Zukerstein and Head of Development Cooperation Jonáš Vnouček handed over materials for visually impaired girls at the Mahiber House in Addis Ababa. The house is home to 16 visually impaired girls aged 6-18 and others regularly attend classes.

Thanks to the project, the girls receiveda Braille automatic printer (until now they printed materials on a manual machine), 16 laptops, 7 textbooks in Braille, 3 audio books, 25 white canes, 15 dictaphones, 16 headphones, 6 games adapted for the visually impaired, keyboards and many other materials. . A key part of the project is the printer and a set of materials for creating textbooks. Thanks to the printer, the home for Mahiber girls will consist of a large number of study aids.
