Ambassador Pavel Mikeš presented a book donation to the Alliance Ethio-Française

On 18th July 2022, H.E. Mr. Pavel Mikeš handed over to the Alliance Ethio – Française in Addis Ababa a gift in the form of books by leading Czech authors translated into French. Alliance Ethio – Française belongs to some of the oldest culture institutions in the town, starting its activities in 1907.

Works of Franz Kafka, Karel Čapek, Milan Kundera, Ladislav Klíma and others were among the nearly fifty books. Other books showed the art of Jří Slíva, an excellent illustrator and humorist whose work was exhibited in the Addis Hilton Hotel in 2019.

The representatives of the Alliance Ethio – Française appreciated this gift, which will expand the offer of its library and introduce its members to the Czech Republic, its literature, language, cuisine, and touristic attractions. The French language was the language of diplomatic communication between the Emperor of Ethiopia and the Czechoslovak government (vide letters in attachment).
