Breakfast on International Human Rights Day for the first time in Addis Ababa

Czech Embassy in Addis Ababa organized a working breakfast with civil society representatives, journalists and political activists on December 10, the International Human Rights Day. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has organized the human rights breakfasts since 2018 when it commemorated 30 years since the breakfast of the French president Mitterand with Czechoslovak dissidents at the French Embassy in Prague. The breakfasts take place not only in Prague but also under the auspices of Czech ambassadors around the world.

The Czech Embassy welcomed all participants and stressed the importance of human rights in the Czech foreign policy. At the same, he highlighted the meaning of organizing a breakfast on this very day and informed everyone that similar meetings are taking place not only in Prague but also in other countries.

The discussions during the working breakfast focused on media in Ethiopia, the situation of journalists and their freedoms, the NGO sector and more generally on the human rights policies of the governments at its different levels.
