Conference: Africa in a Cosmopolitan and Polycentric World

The Centre of Global Studies at the Czech Academy of Sciences organized another series of the annual conference on African philosophy and related disciplines.

This year, the conference was focused on "Africa in a Cosmopolitan and Polycentric World: Violence, Conflict Mediation, and Peace Building Dynamics". Speakers from Ethiopia, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Hungary, Portugal, Australia, the United Kingdom, the USA, and the Czech Republic presented their papers there. You can find the conference program here: Conference Program: Africa in a Cosmopolitan and Polycentric World (PDF, 529 KB).

One of the panelists, Fasil Merawi from Addis Ababa University, recently defended his Ph.D. thesis - the final exam took place via videobridge between Czech Republic and Ethiopia. His thesis was examined by leading Czech political philosopher and sociologist doc. PhDr. Marek Hrubec, Ph.D.
