Visa Section of the Embassy partially resumes its services

Embassy of the Czech Republic in Addis Ababa resumes in limited extent provision of visa and consular services to the public.

Visa services resumption is taking place as the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic continues. We therefore ask for applicants’ cooperation in observing hygienic rules when visiting the consulate. Applicants will be required to use hands´ disinfection, wear facemasks and maintain at least 2 meters distance. The number of persons who can simultaneously enter the consulate premises will be limited. Applicants with increased body temperature or manifesting symptoms of any respiratory illness will not be allowed to enter the premises of the consulate.

Applicants will be admitted strictly on basis of a prearranged appointment. Requests shall be submitted exclusively via e-mail visa_addisabeba@mzv.cz.  Late arrivals will result in cancellation of the appointment. We urge applicants from Djibouti, South Sudan, Somalia, Comoros and Seychelles to acquant themselves with rules for entering the territory of Ethiopia (types of visas issued, health measures including quarantine requirements, etc.).

Based on the latest Protective Measure of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, the Embassy shall receive the following types of visa applications (the extent of the services can change at any time).

Schengen Visas

Long-Term Visas and Residence Permits:

Applicants cannot apply for other types of visas until further notice.

Resumption of processing of applications

Processing of all applications for long-term visas and residence permits that have been started before March 14, 2020 (that means continuation of examining those applications that have been filed before the state of emergency), are resumed.

Obligatory submission of document against introduction of infectious disease

Applicants for Schengen visas and long-term visas and residence permits for purposes of economic and education activities are obliged to submit, upon lodging the application document on fulfilling requirements against introduction of infectious disease. The document is to be issued by the receiving entity in the Czech Republic, i.e. employer or school (university). The requirement is anchored in point I.5 of the Protective Measure of the Ministry of Health from July 17, 2020, and § 31.3.b) of the Act on Stay of Foreign Nationals.

Entry to the Czech Republic

Foreign nationals are kindly requested to check the conditions of entry to the Czech Republic before their travel. Similarly, foreign nationals are requested to see what quarantine measures - if any, they need to observe after their arrival to the Czech Republic. Quarantine measure may include the requirement to submit a negative Covid-19 test. Kindly refer to the website of the Ministry of the Interior, primarily to the pdf-format table titled "Conditions for entry of persons to the territory of the Czech Republic in accordance with the Ministry of Health Protective Measure."
