Jordan celebrates 73rd anniversary of Independence

His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein and Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah held a ceremony in Amman, on May 25 to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of independence and the creation of the Transjordan Kingdom, which was renamed in 1948 to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Following the speeches delivered by the Prime Minister, the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the Lower House, in which they highlighted Jordan's achievements since 1946, His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein handed over state honours to twenty-one Jordanian citizens from various professions and different parts of the country. The ceremony was attended by members of the Royal family, representatives of the government, members of the Jordanian Parliament and the Judicial Council of Jordan, senators, as well as representatives of religious communities and governorates, and diplomatic corps.
