Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

His Excellency Josef Koutsky

 

is a career diplomat who graduated from the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague and the Higher Diplomatic Academy in Prague. He has been devoted to the Middle Eastern affairs for a long time. At the time of the preparation of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Mr. Koutsky completed several internships in Brussels.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he held various leading positions in the departments of the Middle East and North Africa and the Middle East and Africa, including the sub-Saharan region. He occupied various diplomatic posts at the Embassies in the Republic of Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates. In 2002, he was appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Syrian Arab Republic for 4 years. Since January 2010, he acted as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the State of Libya, from where he returned to the Czech Republic in 2014. Next four years he was working as Head of Maghrib Unit as well as the Deputy Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department. In 2018, he was appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Josef Koutsky, born 1964, is married and has two sons.
