Mission of Czech Businessmen to Jordan on 22nd – 25th October, 2017 led by Deputy Minister of Industry Vladimír Bärtl

From the 22nd – 25th October, 2017 the delegation of representatives of Czech companies headed by Vladimír Bärtl, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, took part in a Business Forum organised by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Amman. In addition to representatives of the Czech companies, officials of the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic and the Czech Chamber of Commerce formed also part of the delegation. The aim of the visit were the B2B meetings of Czech companies with Jordanian partners and the establishment of personal contacts which would lead to future cooperation and increase of bilateral trade between the Czech Republic and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The business mission led by Deputy Minister Vladimír Bärtl was a concrete fulfillment of the task which has emerged from the official visit of H.E. Hani Mulki, Jordanian Prime Minister, to Prague in August 2017.

The main part of the B2B meetings took place on Monday October 23rd, 2017 at the InterContinental Hotel in Amman during the Czech-Jordanian Trade Forum. After the introduction by H.E. Petr Hladík, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Jordan, the keynote speech by Deputy Minister of Industry Vladimir Bärtl followed. The Forum was also addressed by Senator Ziad B. Homsi - President of the Amman Industrial Chamber, Ghasan Kherfan - First Vice-President of the Amman and Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Fareedon Hartoqa - Secretary General of the Jordan Investment Commission, Ibrahim Lafia - Head of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Jordan, and Ilja Mazánek - Director of the Foreign Section of the Czech Chamber of Commerce.

The Deputy Minister Bärtl together with representatives of several Czech companies had a meeting also with Khaled Toukan, Chairman of the Jordanian Atomic Energy Commission and his Jordanian counterpart Yousef Al-Shamali, Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply.

The Business Forum was attended by the Czech companies ČKD Elektrotechnika, EGT Express CZ, Export Guarantee and Insurance Company, Gebr. Ostendorf - OSMA Plastics Processing, Česká Zbrojovka, Retia, Sellier & Bellot, Vyrtych, M+M+M Trade, Tatra Trucks and Solarmonitoring.

During the Business Forum a total of 60 Jordanian companies took part in the discussions. The Jordanian media informed widely about the Czech-Jordanian Business Forum.

At the end of the visit members of the Czech delegation and their Jordanian business partners attended a National Day reception organised by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Jordan on the occasion of the 99th anniversary from the establishment of the independent Czechoslovak State.
