Long-term visa

For long-term visas (e.g. visas for the consecutive stay over 90 days) and Employee Cards, a mandatory system of email requests via: amman.visa@mzv.gov.cz only (beginning on November 27, 2017) is in place. The appointments should not be required before all necessary documentation is complete.

The rule one applicant, one e-mail, applies. The only exception concerns minors who submit their applications together with their parent or other representative by Law.

The e-mail must always include the following attachments:

(1) a filled questionnaire (DOCX, 13 KB)

(2) a copy of the data page of the travel document in pdf/jpg format;

(3) a copy of the document proving the purpose of the planned stay in pdf/jpg format (eg. a certificate of study, ...).

Important notice: e-mail that will not contain above-mentioned attachments or will contain the attachment in different than above-mentioned formatwill be considered invalid!

Important notice: emails with an active function disabling the receiver to reply will be excluded from registration.


Attention to applicants for employee cards: according to the goverment decree since 1st January 2024 the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Amman does not accept employee card applications outside of Highly Qualified Worker and Key Research Staff Programs.


Capacity of the Visa Section for long-term visas and employee cards is 6 appointments per week, 24 appointments per month.

After receiving a valid request, the appointment will be confirmed via e-mail. Appointments are granted exclusively according to the order of the incoming e-mails in the mailbox.

The appointments are fixed and cannot be changed, either by the applicant, or by the Consular and Visa Section of the Embassy!

If the applicant eventually cancels an appointment, it is not possible to set a new one without receiving a new request.


The processing language for a long-term visa is English and Czech.

Long-stay visa is issued to applicants who plan to stay in the territory of the Czech Republic for more than 3 months. The visa is issued for maximum one year and can be renewed in the Czech territory. The purpose of the long-stay visa may be health, culture, sports, study, scientific research, family reunion, entrepreneurship and other. This type of visa allows its holder to visit and stay in other countries of the Schengen area for maximum 90 days within any 180-day period.

The Visa Section does not decide on the issue or refusal to issue the visa for a stay over 90 days. The visa for a stay over 90 days is issued by the regional office of the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic based on the application of an alien who wishes to stay in the territory of the Czech Republic for a purpose requiring the stay in the territory of the Czech Republic for a period longer than 3 months. The authority competent to assess the application for issue of a visa for a stay over 90 days is the regional office of the Department for the Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic (DAMP) having jurisdiction over the place of residence stated by you.

In accordance with section 31, par. 3, letter a) of Act No. 326/1999 Coll. on the Residence of Foreign Nationals in the Czech Republic, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Amman informs that all applicants applying for long-term visas/stays must submit  along with their long term visa/stay application the  Non Criminal Record Certificate or a document similar to it issued by the country of which the applicant is a national, as well as the same document issued by the countries where the applicant has been staying continuously for more than 6 months in the last 3 years; or an Affidavit in case that such document cannot be issued.

Official Board - in case a resolution is not delivered to an applicant, it will be in accordance with §169b par. 4 of Act No. 326/1999 Coll. on the Residence of Foreign Nationals in the Czech Republic, officialy posted for 15 days at the web of the Embassy.
