Czech Ambassador Pavel Kafka and Slovak Ambassador Anna Tureničová commemorated together on 17 November 2018 the anniversary of the events of 1939 and 1989 and the struggle of students and citizens for freedom and democracy.

On 17 November 1989 students of Czechoslovak schools gathered to remember the 50th Anniversary of the demonstrations against the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia. This protest turned into an all-society demonstration against the Communist regime and started the Velvet Revolution as well as the return of Czechoslovakia between free and democratic countries.
