2010-Performance of the trio “Bardolino” and the jazz pianist Kryštof Marek from the Czech Republic at the 10th European Jazz Festival in Athens and a concert at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Athens

Between 21 and 30 May 2010, the 10th European Jazz Festival took place in the cultural centre “Technopolis“ in Athens. This year the Czech Republic was represented by the trio „Bardolino“, joined by the jazz pianist Kryštof Marek. On 31 May, “Bardolino”, in its standard three-member formation, gave a concert at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Athens.

This year the festival, highly attended music event, awaited annually by Greek jazz fans, took place for the 10th time. Due to its 10th anniversary, the festival was celebrated “in enlarged edition“, meaning a double participation of Greek groups and a longer duration, compared to the previous years. The festival took place between 21 and 30 May 2010 and every evening (from 21:00 until midnight)three jazz groups from different countries performed in the outdoor space of “Technopolis“. In the main festival programme besides Greeceand theCzech Republic, musicians fromAustria,Belgium,Denmark,Estonia,Hungary,Italy, Luxemburg, the Netherlands,Poland,Portugal,Spainand Swedenalso participated.

At this year’s festival, the Czech musical scene was represented, from the initiative and with the support of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Greece, by the trio “Bardolino“ - Margit Klepáčová (cello), Pavel Fischer (violin) and Camilo Caller (percussions), accompanied by the jazz pianist Kryštof Marek. The music of the excellent Czech trio “Bardolino” is a meeting point of classical, folk, ethnic and jazz music. “Bardolino“, joined by Kryštof Marek, gave a concert in Technopolis on 29 May.

On 31 May “Bardolino“, in its standard three-member formation, performed another programme at the Embassy of the Czech Republic. After Ambassador Hana Mottlová had welcome a hundred guests, a 70 minute long concert followed. The guests present were treated to compositions written mostly by the members of the group, with programme further enriched with compositions by Leoš Janáček and Bohuslav Martinů.
