Spouses of Ambassadors meeting with NGOs

Spouse of the Czech Ambassador to Azerbaijan Monika Pivoňková organized at the Ambassador´s residence on 7 March meeting of the organization of wives of heads of diplomatic missions - HOMS (Head of the Mission Spouses) with two representatives of Azerbaijani NGOs.

Ms. Ursula Cehner  (Holland), Ms. Magda Mahdi ( Sudan), Ms. Anne Cekuta  (USA) and Ms. Monika Pivoňková  (Czech Republic) attended the meetings with two NGOs.

NGO United Aid for Azerbaijan (UAFA), whose activities are focused primarily on children living in socially disadvantaged conditions was represented  by Gwen Burchell. HOMS has supported  the organization since 2014. Cooperation with UAFA will continue in 2016.

Steve Stonehouse and Elena Filippova presented projects  of the organization Caspian Compassion Project (CCP), which is focused on highly specialized medical care for vulnerable families with extremely low incomes. HOMS has supported the organization since 2013, providing financial support, examinations and specialized surgeries for children with eye disorders including. Mutual cooperation will continue in next year.

There were also discussed during the meeting specific individual cases of financial assistance designed the International Red Cross organization e.g., which operates mainly in the border belt of Azerbaijan and Armenia or the continuation of cooperation with the UNHCR Baku encouraging summer training courses for immigrants with refugee status in Azerbaijan.
