Azerbaijan through the Eyes of Czech Student

Ms. Tereza Ciupkova, student of a Faculty of Law from Prague spent three weeks in August in Azerbaijan participating in the project organized by non-profit organization AIESEC. During her stay she excellently represented the Czech Republic and met with our Embassy staff. We are presenting her impressions below.

Fireflies program organized by an AIESEC non-profit student organization takes place every year in Baku. Its target is to introduce nowadays Azerbaijan from a young travelers’ point of view and therefore support tourism in this wonderful, although not very touristy known country.

15 students from all over the world came this year again to meet Azerbaijani cultural, historical and natural heritage and pass their impressions on to other travelers not only from their homelands through short reports and blogs. This year a group of interns got to explore Baku, visited towns as Ganja, Sheki or Ismayili and experienced the real lifestyle while living in local host families.

Like every year, also this year an event called Global Village took place. During this occasion, Baku’s Boulevard changed to an international place full of colors, flags and rhythms of African, Asian or European music. Visitors could also enjoy videos about single countries, learn useful information about them or try the taste of national cuisines.

Even though Azerbaijan is not very well-known destination for Czech tourists so far, Azeri people were very interested in the Czech Republic not only as a tourist destination but also as a potential place for studies for young university students.
