Cheering in Baku under Czech national colors

The capital of Azerbaijan became a theatre of exceptional football event with a distinct Czech flavor. The teams of Viktoria Plzeň and FC Karabakh competed on Tuesday 2nd August at Tofiq Bahramov football stadium over qualifying for Champions League. For more than one hundred Czech fans present at the stadium the match proved to be nail-biting experience till the very end. Our players managed to turn the tide of the Karakh’s offensive just 4 minutes before the end of match, when Michael Kremencik secured a draw 1:1 for Plzen.

Kremencik’s goal confirmed that Victoria Plzen will be participating in the autumn season of European cup and even more importantly, in Champions League play-off. Such result could not had been achieved without the dedicated support of the hardcore fan of Plzen team, who did not hesitate to undergo the four-hour flight from Prague and literally pushed their team to score. It was very pleasant to see that the Czech flags would not became lost in the sea of Azerbaijani national colors and during the decisive moments one was able to clearly hear chanting in Czech language. The players of Viktoria had in turn given their fan a symbolic applause at the end of match.
