EU Days in Mingachevir

On 21 and 22 May 2019, the Czech Embassy participated at another in the row of "traveling" EU Days, organized annually by the EU Delegation in Azerbaijan's regional centers. This year, the EU Days took place in Mingachevir and were dedicated to the 10th anniversary of Eastern Partnership.

Organized in cooperation with institutions of public administration at the regional level, EU Days are a unique opportunity for the presentation of the European Union, its Member States and EU-funded projects in Azerbaijan's regions. The participation of thousands of mostly young people at the "EU4YOU" event at Mingachevir's Samad Vurgun Square were a testament to the interest of local, mostly young, people in the EU. Besides various projects supported by the EU and mostly focused on regional development, 5 EU Member States and 3 Partner States presented themselves in tents at the event, represented by the Embassies of the Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Germany, Moldova, Spain, Sweden and Ukraine in Baku.

Representatives of EU Member States' Embassies, including the Czech Embassy in Baku, gave their own presentations at educational institutions in Mingachevir, focusing on how the EU has helped their own countries and how it can be helpful to Azerbaijan. The EU Days in Mingachevir also contributed to the promotion of pilot initiatives supported by the EU, such as the regional Twinning project focusing on the establishment of mandatory health insurance in the Mingachevir and Yevlakh regions.
