Official visit of Czech Industry and Trade Minister Jan Mladek to Azerbaijan

Mr. Mladek had once again confirmed the high level of bilateral relations between the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan with his official visit. The Czech minister of industry and trade had come to Baku for two days starting from 17th January 2017. During his busy working schedule Mr. Mladek met with the minister of economy Mr. Sh. Mustafayev, minister of finance S. Sharifov, vice-speaker of Parliament V. Aleskerov and other representatives of Azerbaijani state institutions. In addition to that he personally participated in the opening of the Czech – Azerbaijani Business Forum and on the next day he opened the 4th plenary session of Joint Intergovernmental Commission.

Relations between the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan were elevated to a whole new level owing to the Joint Declaration of Strategic Partnership, which was signed in September 2015 during the visit of Czech president Milos Zeman to Baku. Mutual turnover between the two countries during January – November period has reached the amount of $510 mil.

In case of Azerbaijani imports to the Czech Republic, main traded commodities are: crude oil (covers about 1/3 of Czech yearly consumption), nuts and textiles. Czech export to Azerbaijan consists mainly from: steel and iron components, industrial valves and vehicles. For the future, Czech companies are ready to participate in various projects aimed on further development of Azerbaijani economy, mainly in the field of agriculture, transport infrastructure, power engineering, light industry and tourism.
