Czech pianist Matyáš Novák will perform in Bangkok

The Czech Embassy is proud to announce that young talented solo pianist Matyáš Novák will perform two concerts in Bangkok on November 22-23. The first performance will take place at Alliance Francaise, the second at the prestigious Chulalongkorn University. This performance will be held as a commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the fall of communism Czechoslovakia and 25th anniversary of the visit of President Václav Havel to Thailand. The concert at Chulalongkorn University is also part of the Bangkok International Piano Festival 2019.

The first performance at the Alliance Francaise will feature a combination of Czech and French authors. Namely, it will be Bedřich Smetana, Antonín Dvořák and Jaroslav Ježek. From the French composers it will be Claude Debussy and the works by Charles Gounod, together with Hungarian author Ferenc Lizst. You can also find more information on Facebook.

The concert at Chulalongkorn University will again present a work of Czech origin in the form of several contributions by Bedřich Smetana. Furthermore, Matyáš Novák will perform the works of Ferenc Liszt, Charles Gounod and Geateano Donizetti. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the fall of Communism and the 25th anniversary of the visit of Václav Havel to Thailand, a selection of photographs commemorating 1989 and one of the most important personalities of the modern history of Czechoslovakia and later the Czech Republic will be installed in the space adjacent to concert auditorium.

Matyáš Novák (born June 20, 1998), the winner of a number of national and international competitions, is one of the most promising pianists of his generation thanks to his extraordinary harmonious feeling, wide repertoire and excellent stroke technique.

Matyáš began playing the piano at the age of five. He is a graduate of the lyceum of J. K. Tyl in Hradec Králové. He is currently studying at the Pardubice Conservatory in the class of prof. Jitka Fowler Fraňková and since September 2013 also a student of the famous piano academy “Incontri col Maestro” in Imola, Italy, first in the class of Vovka Ashkenazy, since 2017 in the class of prof. Boris Petrushansky.

Matyáš is the winner of many piano competitions in the Czech Republic, Spain, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Poland and the USA and a proud member of the PETROF Art Family. Every year he performs dozens of solo recitals not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Germany, Austria, Poland, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Spain, Italy, Norway and the USA. In 2015 and 2016 he undertook two very successful concert tours in China.

Matyáš regularly cooperates with professional orchestras (Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, Janáček Chamber Orchestra, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra Zlín, Quattro Chamber Orchestra, Mariánské Lázně Symphony Orchestra of West Bohemia, Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra) and takes master classes led by the best artists in their field.

Matyáš is a versatile artist, sought after chamber player and accompanist.
