(This article expired 31.07.2020.)

The Embassy co-organized or assisted in two cultural events that focused on the work of Franz Kafka to take place during October, November and December 2019 in Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

On November 15 – 17 the Bangkok International Artist Guild performed three performances of Kafka´s “Message from the Emperor”. The performances were held at KBank Siam Pic-Ganesha Theater and all were sold out. The performances were set as a combination of live theater and dance performances accompanied by music and video performances.

Another event was the festival “Unfolding Kafka 2019”, which took place between October 26 and November 24 in Chiang Mai, and from November 7 till December 15 takes place in Bangkok. The festival presents a series of film performances, to which the Embassy contributed the “Kafkaesque” film “Flat” by Jan Švankmajer from 1968.

Theatrical and dance performances, video installations, virtual reality and other artistic installations by authors from Germany, France, Japan, Portugal and the Czech Republic (namely the act of VRwandlung - Kafka in Virtual Reality) are also part of the festival.
